Please post here to let us know if you think you'll be able to attend or not.
I've chosen Sunday February 21st, the weekend after Mardi Gras, as the date since several members work monday through saturday.
That's 2 weeks from the time of the original posting and minor updates have been edited into this post since then so hopefully it's not too short of notice for everyone.
I'm planning on having everyone arrive in time for lunch around 11AM (or Noon at the latest) specifically so that anyone coming from several hours away can get up at a reasonable hour, get down/over to the meet's initial gathering point without feeling rushed, and have plenty of time to hang out and enjoy themselves all afternoon before having to make the drive home again... Showing up early is also totally fine, just please don't be excessively late for lunch if at all possible because if that's the case we may end up having to start without you...
LOCATION SELECTED!!!
I've decided on the Mandeville location at this point, gives about a week's notice although there really wasn't much distance between all the optional locations anyway.
It's on Lotus Road off La Hwy 59 which has an exit off I-12 just like 2 miles east of the Causeway/190 Exit.
You take I-12 to the Hwy 59 exit, take Hwy 59 SOUTH off I-12 and drive down Hwy 59 for about maybe 2-3 miles or so, if that far.
Lotus Rd is only on the LEFT/EAST side of Hwy 59 just past a signal light where the car wash is on the left/east side of hwy 59 and the self storage place is on the right/west side at the signal light.
About a block past that signal light where the car wash is will be Lotus Rd on the Left/EAST side of the highway. There's a street sign but you can easily miss it if you're not paying attention so keep looking east as you pass the car wash and be ready to turn.
If you Google Maps "lotus rd mandeville" the red pin ends up pretty much on top of the destination.
The meet will be at a house on the south side of lotus road and if you do satellite view you can see the pool behind the house on the map.
It'll be the house with some Supras out in front...
We're probably going to end up at a restaurant where each member will be responsible for their own bill, although the possibility does exist for grilling burgers and hot dogs and such depending on the weather and my budget. If we end up grilling, food and drink donations would be greatly appreciated but are not mandatory.
There are 2 goals for having this meet.
First, we haven't had an official Crescent City Supras meet in quite a long time so I think it'll be fun to get the gang together again, see some familiar faces and possibly some new faces too, grab some grub, and do a bit of cruising...
Second, the TX2K10 Houston Supra Nationals meet is rapidly approaching and anyone who plans to attend that meet can get together here at this Crescent City meet to discuss departure and return schedules, room reservations, available passenger seats, etc, etc to form up a few different convoy options since not all of us can head out a day early and stay the extra night in Houston after it's all over... Plus for those who haven't already made their hotel reservations y'all can discuss splitting room costs and get the reservations made in advance.
Regardless of whether or not your Supra is up and running and able to come or you don't actually own one right now, come on out and drive what you've got, Supra or not!!!
We'll probably have a VW Golf, Scion xB, Ford Lightning, Toyota Tacoma, Lexus IS300, and who knows what else all showing up as their Supras are in various states of "works in progress" and that's totally fine. Although this is a Supra meet and having a lot of Supras in one place is always cool to see, we won't hold it against you if you don't show up in a Supra.
I sold my Baltic 93TT Supra in December, my 92T is still sitting with a BHG, my 84 P-Type MkII's clutch slave cylinder seems to have finally died a couple nights ago on the way to Jeff 89T's house and is on back-order apparently, my MkI is still awaiting the corrected title from the original owner along with some basic servicing and fluid changes, and the 98TT's differential was supposed to be ready a week ago but "didn't feel right" once it was assembled and the other shim took a week for Toyota to finally get so I don't know if it'll be ready in time for this meet or if I'll be driving the IS300 or maybe borrowing one of Jeff89T's MkIII's instead...
That's the plan so far...
So I've nailed down a date and approximate timetable and we have a set location so it's on!!!
See y'all at the meet!
Thomas
